What is Scyon
[LINK]
The brainchild of James Hardie's research and development team, Scyon™ is an advanced lightweight cement composite with heavy-duty performance. Created with ease of installation in mind, Scyon™ brings advanced building technology to the houses of today, with an eye on tomorrow. Keep your eye on SCYON™ and challenge convention.
Scyon™ Linea™ weatherboard
What is it?
A 16mm thick horizontal weatherboard with deep shadow lines. Scyon™ Linea™ weatherboard is the weatherboard that doesn’t weather like traditional weatherboard.
Where do you use it?
In residential applications wherever a contemporary design is required, including external walls in composite construction, upper-storey and ground-level extensions, and internal feature walls.
What are the key benefits?
Design options. The 16mm thick profile creates consistent deep shadows. The range of corner finishing details – aluminium, PVC or Scyon™ Axent™ trim – means that a range of different looks can be achieved. The Linea window adaptor can be used for subtle window treatments or the Axent trim can provide a contrast. Face or concealed fixing rounds out the options.
Easy to install; Low maintenance; Extra security; Enhances energy efficiency.
Scyon™ Matrix™ cladding
What is it?
An exterior cladding system with a geometric, expressed joint look. Fast and simple to install, Scyon™ Matrix™ cladding is the commercial look without the commercial price tag.
Where do you use it?
In residential and medium-density applications wherever a modern design is required, including external walls in composite construction, upper-storey and ground-level extensions, and internal feature walls.
What are the key benefits?
Simple to install. Instead of needing the steel top hats associated with many commercial systems, Matrix cladding sheets are installed with Scyon™ cavity trim battens. The expressed joint is created easily using a 10mm packer. Sheets are sanded smooth and pre-primed for fast paint application and a high-quality finish.
Design options
Square and rectangular panels with an expressed joint mean a variety of looks can be created, from horizontal and vertical stripes to geometric patterns. Sanded sheets give a flat, smooth finish and digital printing can add even more design options. Matrix cladding’s resistance to cracking, warping and swelling * means it can be painted both dark and light colours. The option ofbrad nailing minimises visual interruption. Matrix™ cladding may be specified for timber-framed or steel-framed structures.
Durability; Enhances energy efficiency

Bundaberg builder wins $5m Project bids
Janette Young | 17th February 2009
Article taken from the Bundaberg News Mail
BUNDABERG builder Jeff Lennox was the $5 million man yesterday after submitting winning bids for two major community projects.
His tender for the cultural and community centre at Bargara secured him just under $4 million of work, while he beat off five other contenders for the construction of an access boardwalk to the existing jetty adjacent to Alexandra Park with a bid of $827,498.
His building supervisor, father-of-four Col Richards, was just as happy to hear the news - it guarantees months of work for around a dozen people who work for Jeff Lennox Homes in what Mr Richards admits are worrying times."It puts a very positive slant on the future ahead," he said. The firm is also considering taking on several more people.
Mr Lennox could not wait to hear the news second-hand - he was sitting at the back of the council chamber as the two tenders were put to the vote. The excitement is not just about securing the ongoing success of his 25-year-old company - he gets a real buzz out of working on community projects. His firm was behind the recent completion of the Hinkler Hall of Aviation, and he was involved in the Bundaberg Rum visitors centre as well as the turtle playground at Bargara.
As someone born and bred in the area, and with his sons Tom and Sam in the business with him, it all gives Mr Lennox a strong sense of pride - and ownership - in his area. But he has no time to rest on his laurels. The construction of the cultural centre is tied to a December deadline to be finished and open because $1.5 million of the cash is coming from the state's Q150 community funding program.
Jim Whittaker, building projects manager for the council, said the builder had committed to a 34-week timeframe.
Asked whether he was confident of meeting that deadline, Mr Lennox said: "Absolutely." His $827,498 bid for the Alexandra Park work was less than half of the highest tender at almost $2 million. But it was still bad news for the council, which had allocated $455,000 for the job - more than $370,000 short.
The meeting was told the balance of the funding will be sought from sport and recreation funding..... |

BURNETT YOUTH LEARNING CENTRE

Jeff lennox Homes is proud to be associated with the Burnett Youth Learning Centre. This artical is listed for no other reason, but to encourage you also to support this valuable centre.

Burnett Youth Learning Centre provides learning opportunities and holistic care for youth experiencing learning barriers. A range of alternatives are offered to young people who want to continue their education. The aim of the Centre is to assist and support those who may not have achieved well in mainstream education or who exited the education system early.
The Centre is a registered, not-for-profit, alternative school that offers a practical, ‘hands-on', supported approach to inspire personal learning. Disengaged youth are offered the opportunity to train with the support of experienced tutors which enables them to be ready to enter the workforce and become a contributing member of society.
Practical partnerships play a vital role in the success of BYLC. Advisors, sponsors and community links with individuals, agencies and businesses have helped develop specific and personal pathways of learning (or employment) for the students. Human resources are as necessary as material and financial resources to make the Centre viable in the long-term.
The Centre is also a registered Deductible Gift Recipient which means all financial donations are tax deductible. However, donations do not need to be restricted to money. Gifts in kind or other services are always gratefully accepted. To make a donation or to find out more about Burnett Youth Learning Centre, phone either of the numbers below or send a request through the ‘Contact Us' page of the Christian Community Ministries website.
